«Collars and Cuffs»
History of the "Collars and Cuffs" Collection
Created based on research and study of the original sources of folk costumes from various ethnographic regions of Ukraine, this collection interprets and processes traditional cuts, embellishments, embroidery techniques, and decorative elements. The collection emerged from a desire to convey the beauty, richness, wisdom, and skills of our tireless women, whose craftsmanship transcends into the realm of world art.
The term “Collars and Cuffs” embodies the concepts of “taking root,” “establishing roots,” and “strengthening,” or “rooted”—suggesting something that lasts long. Rooting is a movement, a process that gives life. What is deeply rooted and well established becomes the foundation for shaping our spirituality, values, worldview, and identity.
This foundation, which anchors us in the past, becomes the driving force and concept of the new collection. Using modern materials, methods, and processing possibilities, we design anew without losing the spirit, significance, and belonging. It is essential to create an image that carries the memory of generations, one that is recognizable as Ukrainian yet simultaneously modern. Skillfully blending fashion trends with the richness of the vibrant heritage of folk costumes allows us to uncover all the subtleties and convey them.
